Guide
How do I get more customers for my solar panel business in Rudrapur?
Show finished rooftops near the buyer, with the owner's permission. Put the installer on camera answering the questions people really ask: roof strength, shade, paperwork, net meter, service. Ask happy customers to recommend you to neighbours. Then add search ads for people already looking, and answer every WhatsApp enquiry the same day.
Rooftop solar is a big decision for a family. It costs real money, it goes on the roof for years, and the buyer usually understands little about it. In most colonies of Rudrapur, someone already has panels, and the neighbours ask them first.
That is the reality an installer has to market to. Most solar Pages post panel photos and a subsidy poster. Here is what works better, for homes and for SIDCUL factory roofs.
01What do people ask before they call a solar installer?
The questions are practical, and they are the same in Kichha, Gadarpur or Haldwani. Before a family calls, they usually want to know:
- Is my roof strong enough, and is there enough sun with the water tank and the neighbour's building?
- How much will my bill actually drop?
- What paperwork is involved, and who handles the subsidy application?
- How long until the net meter is installed?
- Who comes when something stops working, and how fast?
- Is this company still going to be here in five years?
If your Instagram and Facebook answer these in plain Hindi, you are already ahead of most local installers. If they show only panel brochures, the buyer calls whoever their neighbour used.
02Why do neighbours matter more than ads in solar?
A study by the World Resources Institute of rooftop solar buyers in five Indian cities found "strong reliance on vendors as exclusive sources of information". It also found that people preferred "references from friends, family, and neighbors who have already installed solar rooftop systems". The study is from 2018, but it matches what you hear on any site visit.
So your marketing should make the neighbour's recommendation easier to give:
- Film every finished rooftop, with the owner's permission, and say the colony or area.
- Ask the owner to say two lines on camera about the work, the team and the bill.
- After two or three months, ask them to share the video or a photo of their bill drop.
- Give past customers a small thank you for every referral that installs.
A reel titled with a colony name, showing a roof people recognise, does more than a poster with a big discount.
03What should a solar business post on Instagram and Facebook?
Post the site visit, not the brochure. In AMS's experience, these formats carry most of the trust for technical businesses:
| Content | What it shows | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Installer explains one question on a real roof | You know the work | Buyers search their worry, not your name |
| Time-lapse of an installation day | Your team, safety and finish | People want to see who will be on their roof |
| Owner of a finished home on camera | Real result nearby | This is the neighbour's recommendation, on video |
| Earthing, wiring and inverter explained | What cheaper installers skip | Shows why your price is your price |
| After-sales visit or cleaning | You come back | Answers the fear of being left alone |
Speak in Hindi or Hinglish. Many buyers are older, watch with the sound off and check on a mid-range phone, so add captions to every reel.
04Are home buyers and factory buyers different?
Very. A family decides at the dining table, often after the son or daughter checks you online. A SIDCUL unit decides in a meeting, with a plant head, an accounts person and sometimes an owner in Delhi.
For homes, the reels above, WhatsApp and quick site visits do most of the work. For factories, you need different material:
- A short company profile video: your team, past industrial roofs, safety practice.
- A one-page PDF of past projects, with roof type and system size.
- A LinkedIn page that looks alive, because the plant head will check it.
- A website the purchase team can forward, with your registrations and contact details.
Our page on Industrial & B2B Marketing Agency in SIDCUL Rudrapur covers how we market to SIDCUL buyers. For what to film, see What should a company profile video for a SIDCUL factory in Pantnagar show?.
05Do ads work for a solar business in Rudrapur?
Yes, when they reach people who are already thinking about it. Two kinds suit installers:
- Google search ads for what people type, such as solar panel installation near them, or rooftop solar in Rudrapur. These people are close to a decision.
- Meta ads on Facebook and Instagram, using your best rooftop reel, aimed at the colonies and towns you can serve quickly. Use a WhatsApp destination so people can send a photo of their roof and bill.
Keep the area to where your team can reach for service, not just installation. A customer two hours away who calls about a fault becomes a bad review.
Our Google Ads Agency in Rudrapur for Local Search & Calls page explains how we run search ads for local businesses, and Should my Facebook and Instagram ads open WhatsApp or a lead form? helps you choose where the ad should lead.
06What should a solar business never claim in ads?
Solar ads attract claims that come back to bite. A town like this talks, and one angry customer's post travels fast.
- Do not promise a zero bill or free electricity for everyone. It depends on the roof, the system and the usage.
- Do not quote subsidy amounts or timelines in an ad unless you have checked them that week. Send people to the government's national portal for rooftop solar for the current details.
- Do not say "government approved" unless you are actually registered as a vendor where you sell.
- Do not show another installer's project or stock photos as your own work.
- Do not post a customer's house or bill without written permission.
Honest numbers from your own finished sites, shown with permission, will always sell better than a claim the buyer half believes.
07How does AMS work with solar and electrical businesses?
Advance Media Solution is a seven-person studio in Metropolis City, Rudrapur. For Shri Shyam Ji Earthing, we put the owner on camera explaining earthing, and shot a solar earthing explainer on site. Technical work looks good on video when you find the one thing the buyer needs to see and film that properly.
For an installer, we usually plan one shoot day across two or three finished sites, then cut a month of reels from it. We run the search and Meta ads in house, and build a fast website if you need one for factory buyers. Monthly retainers start from ₹35,000 plus GST.
If you run a solar or electrical business in Rudrapur, Kichha or Kashipur and want to talk it through, call +91 91059 43909. Even if you do it yourself, start by filming your next finished rooftop.
08Questions people ask
Should a solar installer show prices online?
A starting price for a common home system helps. Families want a rough idea before they invite someone onto the roof. Final prices depend on the roof, the system size and the structure, so say that clearly. Many installers post a price range and offer a free site check to give an exact quote.
How often should a solar business post?
Two or three useful posts a week is enough, as long as at least one is a video from a real site. A steady stream of finished rooftops builds more trust than daily offer posters. During the summer, when bills are highest, post more often and run ads harder.
Do I need a website as a solar installer?
For homes, WhatsApp and a good Instagram and Facebook carry most enquiries. For factories, a website matters more, because purchase teams forward links and check registrations. Keep it simple: projects, services, the team, certificates and a WhatsApp button. Business websites at AMS start from ₹50,000 plus GST.
Can I use a customer's electricity bill in my marketing?
Only with written permission, and hide the name, address and consumer number. A before and after bill is strong proof, but it is personal information. Ask at handover, explain where it will be posted, and remove it the same day if the customer changes their mind.
