01What makes hotel marketing in Uttarakhand different?

A restaurant sells tonight's dinner to someone nearby. A hotel in the hills sells a weekend to someone in Gurugram or Ghaziabad, weeks before they pack. By the time a family reaches Kathgodam or Ramnagar, the room is booked and paid for. Everything that persuaded them happened on a phone, far away.

That changes the job. The guest cannot see the view, smell the kitchen or check the bathroom. They see your reels, your photos, your reviews and how fast you answer on WhatsApp. If any of those look tired or doubtful, they close the tab and book the next property on the list.

Seasons make it harder. Nainital fills up when the plains are baking. Corbett lives by its safari zones, which open after the monsoon and shut before the next one. A homestay near Mukteshwar may go quiet for weeks in the rains. Marketing a property here means planning a year of very uneven demand, not posting at a steady pace.

We do this from our studio in Metropolis City, Rudrapur. The crew travels to the property for shoots, and the rest is run from Rudrapur between visits.

02Should a hotel push direct bookings or stay on the OTAs?

Both, with different jobs. A study of homestays in the Nainital lake region found that listing on online travel agents lifted occupancy and profit. The same researcher recommended pairing that with a push for direct bookings on the property's own website. That is the balance we plan for.

OTAs are the shop window for strangers. Your own channels are where a guest who already likes you books without a commission coming off the top. The aim is not to leave the OTAs. It is to make your Instagram, website and WhatsApp good enough that a share of guests come straight to you, and come back.

ChannelWhat it does wellWhere it falls short
OTA listingReaches travellers who have never heard of youCommission on every booking, and the guest belongs to the platform
Instagram and Meta adsShows the rooms, the food and the mood before a trip is fixedNeeds fresh content every season to keep working
Your own websiteTakes the booking with no middleman, and stays yoursNeeds visitors sent to it from social, ads and repeat guests
WhatsAppCloses the booking with a real person who answers odd questionsFails the moment replies take hours
Google listing and reviewsCatches people searching the town or the property by nameOnly as good as the photos, timings and replies you keep up

03What does a hotel's year look like, season by season?

We plan the calendar backwards from when guests book, not from when they arrive. Roughly:

  • October and November: Corbett's Bijrani and Garjiya zones reopen around mid-October and Dhikala around mid-November. Resorts near Ramnagar want safari-season reels out before that, while families are still picking dates.
  • December to February: Christmas, New Year and winter weddings. Hill properties sell bonfires, clear mornings and quiet. Resorts with lawns and halls sell next season's wedding dates.
  • March and April: a shoulder season. Good for shooting, with green hills and fewer guests in frame, and for selling early summer stays.
  • May and June: the heat in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh sends families up, and Nainital weekends get crowded. Your content should tell guests exactly how to reach you.
  • July to September: most Corbett zones close for the monsoon, though Jhirna, Dhela and Garjiya stay open. Hill roads slow down. Use it for workcation offers and next season's shoot.

The summer rush is worth planning for in detail. On one crowded June 2026 weekend, police shuttled visitors into Nainital once the parking was full, while guests with confirmed hotel bookings could drive straight in. A reel or WhatsApp note that says this plainly saves a guest an anxious hour on the road.

Kainchi Dham also brings pilgrims through these hills all year. Properties on that route can speak to them directly, with timings, parking and an early breakfast.

04What should a property film and food content show?

A good property film answers the questions a guest would otherwise ask on a call. How far is the car park from the room? What does the room look like at night with the lamps on? Is the view from the balcony, or from a terrace two floors up? Where do children play? We shoot what is true, because a guest who feels misled writes the review that costs you future bookings.

Food is the other half. For many guests, the meal is what they remember about the trip. Pahadi dishes, a breakfast spread on the lawn, a bonfire dinner, the tandoor at night. Shoot the cooking, not just the plate.

For Kartar's Haveli we made a brand film, kitchen close-ups for the menu, banquet weddings shot live and a long podcast cut into short clips. The account grew from zero to 7,000+ followers. The full case is at the Kartar's Haveli case study.

Heritage stays have a story, and the owner is usually the best person to tell it. One long sitting with the family can be cut into clips that run on the feed for weeks.

05How do you reach weekend travellers from Delhi NCR?

Most of your weekend guests live in the plains and plan from there. So the ads run where they live, not where you are. We target Delhi NCR and the larger towns of western Uttar Pradesh, then narrow it once bookings show who actually comes.

The creative matters more than the targeting. The reel that does well on your feed is usually the one we put money behind, without remaking it as a separate ad. Bluwalker, a clothing label, ran on that idea: one reel shot well did both jobs and reached 3M+ views in a month.

Weekend travellers ask the same things every time. Your content should answer them before they do:

  • How long the drive takes from Delhi, and what the last stretch of road is like.
  • Whether there is parking, and how far it is from the rooms.
  • Whether pets, late check-in or a week-long workcation are fine.
  • What the kitchen serves, and whether it cooks Jain or plain meals on request.
  • How to book directly, with a WhatsApp number that answers.

06Do city hotels in Rudrapur and Haldwani need a different plan?

Yes. A city hotel's guest is rarely on holiday. In Rudrapur it is often someone visiting a SIDCUL plant, a family in town for a wedding, or a company booking a hall for a meeting. In Haldwani it is travellers breaking the journey into the hills, and families coming for functions.

These guests search more than they scroll. They look for a hotel near a factory, a hospital or the bus stand, compare a few listings and call. So the website, the Google listing and the phone matter more than a long Instagram feed. Banquet halls and in-house restaurants are the exception. They need the same reels as any wedding venue or busy restaurant.

Radisson Blu is among the hospitality brands we have worked with, alongside Kartar's Haveli, Ivory Cafe and The Royal Bite. For a city property we usually start with a fast website that shows rooms, halls and one clear way to book: Website Design & Development in Rudrapur.

07What does hotel marketing with AMS cost, and what is left out?

Monthly retainers start from ₹35,000 a month and websites from ₹50,000, both plus GST. Ad spend is paid by the property straight to Meta or Google from its own account. Travel for shoot days in the hills is written into the quote. A small homestay and a resort with a banquet hall do not need the same month, so scope is set on a call. The structure is at Digital Marketing Packages in Rudrapur from ₹35,000.

We are also clear about what we do not sell:

  • SEO as a separate service. Websites we build include local SEO basics, and nothing more is claimed.
  • Google Business Profile management. We supply fresh photos from each shoot, and your team keeps the listing.
  • OTA listing management or rate setting. That stays with your front office.
  • Promises of occupancy or bookings. Nobody can guarantee those, least of all in a monsoon.

Start with a call on +91 91059 43909. The first meeting is best held at the property, ideally on an off-season weekday, when we can walk every room without guests in the way.

08Work that proves it

09Questions people ask

Do you work with small homestays, or only big resorts?

Both. A homestay with a handful of rooms often gains the most, because the family, the food and the village are the whole pitch. We keep the plan smaller: one planned shoot a season, a clean Instagram, a simple booking page and quick WhatsApp replies. A resort adds banquets, packages and ads to that.

How long before the season should a hotel start marketing?

Earlier than most owners think. Guests book weekends weeks ahead, and festival and wedding dates further out. For summer, shoot in spring and have content live before the plains heat up. For Corbett's safari season, the reels should be out before the zones reopen after the monsoon.

Can you shoot while the property is full of guests?

We would rather not. Guests do not want to appear in your ads, and a packed dining room is hard to light well. We plan shoots for a quiet weekday, with staff or friends standing in where a room needs people. Food and kitchen content can be shot on any day the chef has time.

Will your crew travel to Mukteshwar, Bhimtal or the Corbett belt?

Yes. The crew drives up from Rudrapur and plans fewer, longer shoot days in the hills, so travel stays sensible. Weather decides a lot up there, so we keep a backup date in the plan. Editing, posting, ads and the website run from the studio between visits.

Will you answer guest messages and take bookings for us?

We answer comments and first messages on Instagram and Facebook, and pass booking requests to your desk on WhatsApp with the dates and number of guests. Rates, availability and payment stay with you. Nobody knows your rooms like the person at the desk, and guests can tell the difference.

Can you build a website that takes direct bookings?

Yes. We build fast websites with rooms, photos, directions and a clear way to book, either a WhatsApp button or a link to the booking engine you already use. The domain and hosting are bought in your name. Business websites start from ₹50,000 plus GST.
