01What does a commercial photographer in Rudrapur actually shoot?
Search for a photographer here and most of what comes up is wedding teams and photo labs. That is a different job. Commercial photography is stills for a business: pictures that have to sell a product, fill a table or make a stranger trust you before they call.
At AMS the photo work falls into six kinds of shoot. Each one ends up somewhere different, and that decides how it is lit, framed and edited.
| Shoot | Who it suits | Where the photos go |
|---|---|---|
| Product on plain white | D2C brands, manufacturers, anyone selling online | Amazon, Flipkart and Meesho main images, catalogues, website |
| Product in use | Clothing, jewellery, furniture, home goods | Instagram, ads, the extra marketplace slots |
| Food and menu | Restaurants, cafes, bakeries, caterers | Menu cards, delivery apps, Google, Instagram |
| Shop and showroom | Retail, clinics, gyms, salons, offices | Google, website, ads that push a visit |
| Team and founder portraits | Clinics, coaching, builders, B2B suppliers | About pages, brochures, LinkedIn, press |
| Brand events | Launches, fairs, school and company events | Same-day posts, next year's promotion |
Video has its own page, at Videographer in Rudrapur for Brands & Events. This page is only about stills, and what happens to them after the shoot.
02What product photos do Amazon, Flipkart and Meesho listings need?
Marketplaces are strict about the first image, and loose about the rest. The main image rules Amazon sellers quote are clear. It must be a real photograph of the product, on a pure white background. No text, logos, borders or watermarks. No props that do not come in the box. Meesho also asks for a plain first image without text. Rules change, so check your own seller account before uploading.
Pure white is harder than it sounds. Even in a light box, the camera records a pale grey. The white is finished in the edit, carefully, so the product's own edges and colour stay true.
The other slots are where you actually sell. For a typical product we plan these:
- Front, back and side, so nothing is a surprise on delivery.
- A close-up of what the buyer cannot touch: fabric weave, stitching, a clasp, a finish.
- The product in a hand or a room, so the size is obvious.
- The product in use, worn or styled, for the buyer who needs to picture it.
- Packaging, but only where the box is part of what they are buying.
Across a catalogue, every photo should match in brightness, white balance and framing. A range shot over three different afternoons looks like three different sellers. We shoot a range in one setup for that reason. Bluwalker, a D2C apparel label we work with, had its tee drop shot in our studio, and one session fed both the posts and the ads. Selling online across India is covered in more depth at E-commerce & D2C Marketing Agency in Rudrapur.
03Which photos should a local business put on Google and Instagram?
Google's own help page for Business Profiles is a useful shot list. It asks for the outside of the business from each direction a customer approaches, at different times of day. It asks for the inside as a customer would see it, your popular products or dishes, and the team at work. It wants photos in focus and well lit, without heavy filters or AI changes. The photo should look like the place does.
That last rule matters around here. A customer driving in from Kichha, Pantnagar or the SIDCUL side checks the photos to find the gate and judge the place. If the shop looks bigger online than in person, the review says so.
We do not manage Google Business Profiles. What we do is shoot the set Google asks for and hand it over named and sorted, so you or whoever runs your profile can upload it in one sitting.
Instagram wants different crops from the same session. Feed posts work best tall, in 4:5. Stories and reel covers need 9:16 with room for text. A profile picture is a small circle. We frame wide enough on the day that each crop can be cut without losing the product. Website photos are compressed before they go up, so the page still opens fast on mobile data.
04How does a photo shoot with AMS work, step by step?
- A short call. What are we shooting, how many items, and where will each photo be used?
- A shot list, written down and sent to you. Every product, every angle, every crop.
- Preparation on your side. Products cleaned, pressed and labelled. Dishes ready to plate. The shop tidied and stocked.
- The shoot, at our studio for small products or at your premises with our own lights.
- A first look on the day, so a missing angle is caught before we pack up.
- Editing: colour matched to the real product, dust and marks removed, backgrounds cleaned. The product itself is never changed.
- Delivery in folders by use: marketplace, Instagram, website, print, all clearly named.
Food is shot fast, because it does not wait. We plan the order of dishes with the kitchen, shoot each one the moment it is plated, and leave garnish and steam to the last seconds.
The shoot is the easy part. The preparation decides most of the result. Our guide at How do I prepare my shop or restaurant for a photo and video shoot? lists what to do in the week before, for a shop or a restaurant.
05What makes shop, showroom and restaurant photos work?
Honest light and real people. A showroom photographed at night under tube lights looks flat and cold. The same room in morning light, doors open, staff in place, looks like somewhere you would walk into. We usually shoot before opening, when the floor is clear, and come back for a busy shot once customers arrive.
Include the board. Many enquiries in Rudrapur still start with a phone call asking where exactly the shop is. A clear photo of the signboard, the entrance and the nearest landmark answers that before it is asked.
Shoot what changes with the season. Stock and menus here move with the calendar: Navratri and the Atariya temple fair, Diwali, wedding season, winter. A set of photos that shows last year's stock tells a returning customer nothing new. A short seasonal shoot each time the shelves change keeps Google, Instagram and the WhatsApp catalogue current.
For food, close-ups do the selling. Kartar's Haveli is a good example of how far menu-led content goes. Kitchen close-ups built around the menu and food content on rotation were part of the work that grew the account to 7,000+ followers from zero. More on restaurants is at Restaurant Marketing Agency in Rudrapur & Kumaon.
06Do you need team and founder portraits?
If people buy from you because they trust a person, yes. A patient chooses a doctor. A parent chooses a teacher. A purchase manager at a SIDCUL plant chooses a supplier whose owner picks up the phone. In all three cases, a real face does more than a stock photo of a handshake.
We shoot portraits where the person works: the doctor in the consulting room, the faculty in front of the board, the owner on the shop floor or beside the machine. That tells the viewer something a studio backdrop cannot.
Most people are nervous in front of a camera. We keep it short and talk them through it, in Hindi or English, and we shoot candid frames of them at work alongside the posed ones. Those candid frames often end up as the better photo.
The same set covers several jobs. A website about page, a brochure, a LinkedIn profile, an admissions post, a quote card for Instagram. One morning of portraits can carry a year of use.
07What is not included, and what should you check before hiring a photographer?
We do not shoot weddings, pre-weddings or family functions. We do not sell SEO or manage Google Business Profiles. We do not pass off stock images or AI-generated product shots as your real stock. If a buyer receives something that does not match the photo, the return and the bad review are yours.
Whoever you hire, ask these before you book:
- Can I see commercial work like mine, not wedding albums?
- How many edited photos do I get, and is the background clean-up included?
- Will the colours match the real product?
- Can I use the photos everywhere: marketplaces, ads, packaging, print?
- Will I get full-size files as well as web sizes?
- What date will the edited set arrive, in writing?
A one-off shoot is quoted after a short call, by the number of items and the kind of photos. Brands on a monthly retainer get shoot days planned into it. Retainers start at ₹35,000 a month plus GST, as set out at Digital Marketing Packages in Rudrapur from ₹35,000.
08Why shoot photos and video on the same day?
Because the hard work is the same. The products are cleaned, the dishes plated, the shop set and the people ready. Getting the stills and the reels from one session saves you a second disruption, and the photos and videos look like one brand.
Our crew plans both into one shot list. The Royal Art is a fair example of the approach: gallery pieces shot in situ rather than on a white sweep, store and product content for the feed, and a Rakhi campaign built to a date. The launch did ₹70k+ in sales within the first twenty days.
The photos then go to work in more places. Our designers turn them into social posts, menu cards, brochures and flex boards, so you are not printing a blurry phone photo on a banner. That side is covered at Graphic Designer in Rudrapur for Logos, Menus & Ads.

10Questions people ask
How much does a product photoshoot in Rudrapur cost?
It depends on how many products, whether you need plain white photos, styled photos or both, and how much editing each needs. Twenty plain items on white are a very different day from a styled clothing shoot with a model. We do not publish per-photo rates. We quote after a short call and, if useful, a look at the products.
Can you shoot at our factory or shop instead of a studio?
Yes. We bring our own lights and backdrops, so a clean product set can be built in a showroom, a back office or a corner of a factory floor. Large or heavy items are usually easier to shoot where they are. Small items like jewellery or cosmetics often come out best at our studio in Metropolis City.
Can you edit photos I already took on my phone?
Up to a point. We can correct colour, straighten, crop for each platform and clean up a background. We cannot add detail that the phone did not capture, or fix a photo that is blurred or badly lit. Send a few and we will tell you honestly which are worth editing and which should be reshot.
Who owns the photos after the shoot?
You should be free to use them for your business everywhere: marketplaces, Instagram, ads, your website and print. We put the usage terms in writing before the shoot, so there is no confusion later. Keep the full-size files in a folder under your own business account, not only on one staff member's phone.
Do you shoot outside Rudrapur?
Yes. Kichha, Pantnagar, Gadarpur, Dineshpur and Bilaspur are short trips from the studio, and Haldwani is about an hour by road. For Kashipur, Nainital or further, we plan the shoot day in advance and show any travel on the quote.
