01Why do we shoot your food in the kitchen and not on a white plate?

Open Instagram and look at the restaurants around you. Most of the food is shot the same way: a plate, top down, under the dining room's tube light. It looks like a delivery listing. It does not make anyone hungry.

Hunger starts with the cooking, not the finished plate. The tadka hitting the pan, the tandoor door opening, cream going onto a cold coffee, the plate landing on the table. So we shoot in your kitchen, with the flame, the noise and the steam. That is what we did for Kartar's Haveli. Kitchen close-ups built around the menu, dining content on rotation, and a brand film for the haveli. The account went from zero to 7,000+ followers on that work. The full story is at the Kartar's Haveli case study.

A phone camera gets a kitchen wrong in predictable ways. Warm tube light turns dal orange and paneer grey. Steam fogs the lens at the wrong moment. A top-down frame flattens the dish, so a full thali looks like a small one. We plan around the light, shoot low and close, and wait for the moment the plate leaves the pass. That is when it looks the way it tastes.

02Zomato and Swiggy already have our photos. Why do we need our own reels?

Because they do different jobs. A Zomato or Swiggy photo is for someone who has already decided to order in. It has to show the portion plainly so nobody complains when the box arrives. That is a catalogue photo, and it should stay one.

Your own reel is for someone who has not decided yet. It is Friday afternoon, a group chat is arguing about where to go, and someone drops your Instagram link. What they need to see is the room, the crowd, the plate arriving, the staff, the parking. A delivery app shows none of that. It also puts your dishes next to every other kitchen in town, sorted by discount.

So the split is simple. Keep the app listing clean and accurate. Put the personality on your own pages, where you set the order and nobody sits next to you. For City of Joy we shot a restaurant walkthrough. For The Royal Bite, food close-ups for the feed and a kitchen and dining film. Different rooms, same idea: show the visit, not the box.

If your Instagram is busy but the tables are not, the gap is usually here: Why your Instagram is not bringing customers (and what to fix first).

03How do you plan around the weekend and festival rush?

A restaurant's week is lopsided. Thursday to Sunday pays the rent. Monday to Wednesday the room is quiet, the kitchen has time, and the light through the front window is the same as on Saturday. That is when we do most of the shooting. If we need the room busy, we agree a slot that does not get in your staff's way.

Posting runs the other way. Content goes out when people are deciding: Thursday evening, Friday lunch, Saturday morning. A reel published late on a Monday is talking to an empty room.

Festivals need a longer runway. Diwali parties, New Year bookings, Valentine's tables, Holi brunches, and the wedding season when out-of-town families need somewhere for a big dinner. Each should be shot and ready before the rush, with the offer decided and the booking number on screen. The festival dishes are cooked for the camera on a quiet weekday beforehand, not plated in a hurry on the night. Our festival calendar for Uttarakhand is at Festival marketing calendar for shops and restaurants in Uttarakhand.

Menu launches are news, and we treat them that way. Tease the dish before it lands, shoot the launch in the kitchen, then show people eating it once it is on the menu. The same rule applies to a new outlet, a rooftop opening or a live music night.

04Should the owner or the chef be on camera?

Not compulsorily, and we will never force it. For Kartar's Haveli, the kitchen, the food and the room did most of the work. But when a restaurant owner does talk on camera, something changes. People stop seeing a logo and start seeing the person who will be there when they walk in.

It does not need a studio or a long script. A short clip on why you put a dish on the menu. The chef explaining what goes into the gravy. A walk through the room before the doors open. For Ivory Cafe we made presenter-led social content, with a person talking to camera. A few short takes and a rough outline are enough.

Some places have a story: a haveli, a family recipe, a bakery on the same street for a generation. For those we sit the owner down for a long recording and cut it into short clips. One sitting can supply clips for weeks, and it gives the place a voice. Kartar's Haveli had one too: a long-form podcast, cut down for social, alongside the kitchen content.

05What does a customer check before walking in, and where do Google reviews fit?

Before trying a new restaurant, most people check the same things on Google Maps. The rating, the latest reviews, the photos, whether it is open right now, roughly what a meal costs. Then they open Instagram to see if the room looks like their kind of place. Both windows have to be right. A good feed with a stale Google listing can lose the walk-in at the last step.

So your Google listing needs the same care as your feed. If you want us to look after it, it can be added to the retainer, and what is included is agreed on the call. Either way, this is what a good listing needs:

  • Recent photos from your own shoots, not only the ones a customer uploaded in bad light.
  • Timings, menu link and phone number kept correct, including festival hours.
  • A reply to every review in plain words, including the angry one. Other readers judge the reply as much as the complaint.
  • A simple ask at the table, when the plate is cleared and the guest is happy, rather than a QR code on the bill.
  • No bought or fake reviews. They read as fake, and they put the listing at risk.

For hotels this matters twice over, because the room booking and the restaurant table are often decided on the same listing.

06What does a month of restaurant marketing with us look like?

A restaurant's month follows its menu and its weekends, so ours does too. Once the scope is agreed on the call, the work settles into a rhythm like this:

  • Planning: we eat at your place, walk the kitchen with your chef, and agree which dishes are the heroes. Shoot slots are planned around your service.
  • Shoot day: kitchen close-ups, the room set for guests, the plate landing. If your Google listing is part of the plan, it gets fresh photos from the same shoot.
  • Posting: timed for Thursday to Sunday. The "table for four tonight?" DMs get answered instead of sitting unread, and review replies go out if they are in the plan.
  • The next shoot: built around what is coming up, such as a menu change, a festival or a live night. If ads are in the plan, the spend goes on this weekend's offer or the festival booking, not on the brand in general.
  • The monthly update: which reels people watched and saved, how many table enquiries came in by DM and phone, and what the next shoot will be built around.
  • Your part: be reachable on WhatsApp for approvals, and tell us early when anything on the menu changes.

Watch the DMs first: people asking about the dish in the last reel, or a table for eight on Saturday. A fuller room on a Tuesday depends on the food and service as much as the feed. We do not put a date on it.

07What does restaurant marketing cost in Rudrapur?

Two prices exist, and both are starting points. Monthly marketing retainers start from ₹35,000 a month. Business websites start from ₹50,000. GST is charged on top of both.

Ad spend is separate and never passes through us. You pay Meta or Google directly from your own ad account, so you can see every rupee. For a website, the domain and hosting are bought in your own name. The menu page you paid for stays yours if we ever part ways.

For a restaurant, the scope follows the menu and the calendar. A cafe that changes its specials every week needs the camera back more often than a dhaba with a fixed menu. A hotel adds rooms, breakfast and the banquet hall, and in the wedding season the banquet hall comes first. We work that out on the call. What moves the price up or down is laid out at Digital Marketing Packages in Rudrapur from ₹35,000. For a restaurant website with the menu, directions and a WhatsApp booking button, see Website Design Cost in Rudrapur: From ₹50,000.

08Work that proves it

09Questions people ask

Do you shoot at the restaurant or in a studio?

At the restaurant. The kitchen, the pass, the dining room and the front of the building are the product. None of them can be moved to a studio. We plan most of the shooting for your quiet hours, often weekday afternoons, so service is not disturbed. Editing happens back at our studio in Metropolis City, Rudrapur.

We are on Zomato and Swiggy. Is Instagram still worth it for a restaurant?

Yes, because they do different jobs. Delivery apps sell the box to someone who has already decided to order in. They also place your dishes next to every other kitchen in town. Instagram and Facebook are often where a group decides where to go on Saturday. Kartar's Haveli built 7,000+ followers from zero on its own brand film, kitchen close-ups and dining content.

Can you handle our Google reviews and Google Business Profile?

Yes, if you want it in the plan. It can be added to the retainer, and what is included is agreed on the call. That can cover fresh photos from each shoot, correct timings including festival hours, and a plain reply to every review. We can also suggest a polite way to ask happy guests at the table. We do not buy reviews or write fake ones. They read as fake and put the listing at risk.

Does the owner or the chef need to be on camera?

No. The kitchen, the dishes and the room can carry a restaurant feed on their own. If you do want to be on camera, we keep it short: a few takes and a rough outline. Why a dish is on the menu, or a walk through the room before the doors open. For places with a story, we record a long conversation and cut it into clips that can run for weeks.

How much does restaurant marketing cost in Rudrapur?

Monthly marketing retainers start from ₹35,000 a month and business websites from ₹50,000, both plus GST. A festival or live-night ad budget is paid by you straight to Meta, not through us. A menu and booking site sits on a domain bought in your name. The scope follows your menu changes and busy season, and is set after we have seen the kitchen. The starting points are explained at Digital Marketing Packages in Rudrapur from ₹35,000.

Do you work with hotels and bars, or only restaurants and cafes?

All of them. Hospitality brands we have worked with include Radisson Blu, Barrel & Bistro, Ambessy Restro & Bar, Mudhouse Cafe and The Boho Brew. Others are Narad G Heritage Bake House, Kartar's Haveli, City of Joy, The Royal Bite and Ivory Cafe. A hotel adds rooms, breakfast and banquet enquiries to the same plan. A bar adds live nights and weekend events.

Do you cover Haldwani and the hill towns of Kumaon?

Yes. The crew drives from our studio in Metropolis City, Rudrapur, to Haldwani, about 35-40 km, and shoots in your kitchen there. A cafe or hotel in the hills is often selling the view as much as the food. So we pick the shoot day with you around the weather and the season, and travel goes into the quote.
