01Why would a Nainital business use a studio in Rudrapur?
The honest answer starts with the map. Our studio is in Metropolis City, Rudrapur, about two hours by road from Nainital, up through Haldwani and the hill road beyond Kathgodam. We do not have an office on the lake, and we will not pretend to.
What we do have is a team of seven that does the whole job in house. The same people plan the month, shoot it, edit it, post it, run the ads and build the website. In a hill town, where good camera and edit people are hard to book once the season starts, that counts for more than an address near the Mall.
The split is simple. The first meeting and every shoot happen up the hill, at your hotel, cafe, school or shop. Editing, posting, replies, ad management and web work happen in our studio. Approvals happen on WhatsApp. Nishant Singh, who founded AMS in April 2023, usually comes on the first shoot himself, so the person who scoped the job has seen the place.
02When is the right time to shoot in Nainital and the lake district?
A hill shoot planned like a plains shoot tends to lose half the day to mist. The lake district runs on its own calendar, and the content plan should follow it.
| Months | What the town is like | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| March to April | Season opening, rooms still free, hailstorms common | The main property and menu shoot, before the rush |
| Mid-May to June | Peak crowds, families up from the plains for summer holidays | Post what was shot in spring, run ads, grab crowd footage only |
| July to September | Monsoon, the quietest weeks, roadblocks after heavy rain | Interiors, food and mist reels, with a spare day kept free |
| October | Bright skies after the rain, mild days | The second big shoot, for winter and New Year content |
| November to February | Cold, mist in December and January, Christmas and New Year crowds | Fireplace, food and festive content; snow only if it comes |
Two things follow. Content for the summer rush should be shot by April, not in May when every room is taken and the Mall is packed. And we never sell a winter campaign that depends on snow. It falls on the higher ridges in some years and not in others, so the plan works without it and treats a snowfall as a bonus.
The Nanda Devi Mela at the Naina Devi temple in September is worth a day of its own for any business near Mallital.
03How does a shoot day in the hills work with patchy data and changing weather?
Shooting at altitude is slower than shooting in a showroom on the plains. The light changes in minutes, roads shut after heavy rain, and mobile data around the lake can drop just when you need it. We plan for that instead of hoping.
- A weather check with you the evening before. If it looks bad, we move the date before anyone leaves the studio.
- An early start, so the crew is on location for the morning light over the water, often the clearest hour of the day.
- A shot list agreed in advance, with an indoor fallback for every outdoor shot in case the cloud comes down.
- Several weeks of reels, stills and one longer film batched into one or two days, so each trip earns its travel.
- Footage copied to drives on site and carried back. We do not rely on hotel wifi to move files.
- Edits sent to you as light previews on WhatsApp, which open even on a weak signal.
Bhowali sits at the junction of the roads to Nainital, Bhimtal and Mukteshwar, so two properties on that side can often share one trip. Mukteshwar, further out, usually needs its own day.
We are used to working high up. We filmed a parikrama run for Adi Kailash on the route itself, and the Niti Xtreme Ultra Run was a high-altitude race we marketed from first shoot to final spend.
04How do Nainital hotels and homestays get more direct bookings?
Most guests choose where to stay on a phone in the plains, days before the drive up. They scroll the property's Instagram, look at the rooms and the view, and then either book through a portal or call. The job of your marketing is to make calling you the easier of the two.
In practice that means three things. A feed that shows real rooms, the view from them and the food, shot by season, so a December guest sees December. A fast website with a clear enquiry route, a WhatsApp button and the phone number on every page. And Meta ads switched on in the weeks people plan their trips, aimed at the cities they drive from, then cut back once you are full.
Kartar's Haveli, a hospitality client, went from zero to 7,000+ followers on a steady run of brand film, kitchen close-ups and dining content. Hospitality is one of our biggest groups, and we have also worked with Radisson Blu, Ivory Cafe, Mudhouse Cafe and The Boho Brew.
Our hotel and resort page goes deeper on bookings, portals and property films: Hotel Marketing Agency in Uttarakhand for Resorts. For a smaller place, this guide is a practical start: How do I get more direct bookings for my homestay in Nainital?.
05What about boarding schools, local products and shops on Mall Road?
The town is not only hotels. Its boarding schools, several of them more than a century old, compete for families who may live hundreds of kilometres away. Those parents cannot drop in. They judge a school on what they see online: the campus, the teachers, an ordinary day. A school film and a run of short campus reels do more for them than a prospectus. We filmed a Harela planting day for Jain Global School, and that kind of event content travels well with parents.
Then there are the shops. Mall Road is lined with candle and souvenir shops, and local makers sell marmalades, chutneys, pickles and pine cone crafts to visitors. The trouble is that the visitor goes home and the sale stops there. A small online shop or a WhatsApp catalogue, with product reels shot properly, lets a June customer reorder in December.
Bhowali is the wholesale fruit market for the central Kumaon hills, and orchard stays around Mukteshwar can sell preserves and seasonal boxes the same way. It is the shape of our work for Bluwalker, a D2C label: the reel that drew 3M+ views in a month ran as the ad, and sales have held at ₹8 lakh+ every month since. Your numbers will be your own.
Websites start from ₹50,000 + GST, and what goes into one is set out here: Website Design & Development in Rudrapur.
06What does it cost, and what is not included?
Retainers start from ₹35,000 a month + GST. The exact scope is set on a call, and the full breakdown is on our packages page: Digital Marketing Packages in Rudrapur from ₹35,000.
For a client up the hill, the quote also shows travel for shoot days as its own line, so you know what the trips cost before you agree. Ad spend is separate. You pay it straight to Meta or Google from an ad account in your own name.
- Included in a retainer: the content plan, shoot days, editing, posting, replies to comments and messages, ad management and a plain monthly report.
- Included in a website build: a fast mobile site, an enquiry form, a WhatsApp button and local SEO basics.
- Not included: SEO as a separate monthly service, or managing your Google Business Profile. We do not sell either.
- Not promised: a number of bookings, followers or enquiries. Nobody can guarantee those, and anyone who does is guessing.
If one season of content is all you need, say so on the first call. A spring shoot plus a few months of posting is a smaller job than a full year, and we will quote it that way.
07What should a Nainital owner ask any agency before signing?
Whether you hire us, a team in Haldwani or someone on the lake itself, these questions separate the serious from the rest:
- Who actually comes up the hill on shoot day, and will I meet them first?
- What happens if it rains, or the road closes, on the day we booked?
- Can you show me a hotel, cafe or school you have worked with, with a real number attached?
- Will the ad account, the Instagram page and the website be in my name?
- Can you write in Hindi for weekend families and in English for guests from further away?
- What will the monthly report say, and in what words?
If an answer is vague in the first meeting, it will be vaguer by the third month. Ours are on this page. For businesses on the way down the hill, our Haldwani page explains how we work there: Best Digital Marketing Agency in Haldwani.
08Work that proves it
09Questions people ask
Do you have an office in Nainital?
No. Our only studio is in Metropolis City, Rudrapur, about two hours away by road. The crew comes up for the first meeting and for every shoot day. Editing, ads and the website run from the studio, and approvals happen on WhatsApp. We would rather say this on the first call than have you find out later.
What happens if it rains on our shoot day?
We decide together the evening before. If heavy rain or a road closure looks likely, the date moves before the crew sets off. If the weather turns on the day, we switch to the indoor shot list agreed in advance: rooms, kitchen, food and people. Mist and rain also make good reels in their own right.
Should a seasonal hill business run ads all year?
Usually not at the same level. Most hill businesses spend more in the weeks before the summer rush and before Christmas and New Year, then cut back in the monsoon. Posting should carry on through the quiet months, because a guest who books in May often found you in March.
Can the content be in Hindi?
Yes. Weekend families from the plains mostly scroll in Hindi or Hinglish, while some guests and school parents prefer English. We write captions, scripts and on-screen text in whichever mix your own guests speak. Some properties run both, with each ad version matched to the people it is aimed at.
How early should we start before the summer season?
Ideally in February. That leaves time for a planning call, a spring shoot in March or April, approved edits and ads ready before the crowds arrive in mid-May. Starting later still works, but you will be posting while the season is already running, and shooting in a full hotel is harder.
