Wedding season 2026: a marketing plan for jewellers, salons and banquet halls in Kumaon

The winter wedding season opens after Dev Uthani Ekadashi on 20 to 21 November 2026, and one widely used muhurat list runs only from 21 November to 12 December. Families shop and book weeks earlier. So shoot in October, post through Diwali, and run your wedding content and ads from 9 November.

For a jeweller, saree shop, salon, banquet hall or caterer, the shaadi season is where much of the year is decided. This winter, the window is short. By one widely used list, the Hindu muhurat dates run for barely three weeks, from late November to mid-December.

The families getting married on those dates are shopping and booking now, with Diwali in the middle. If you start posting on 20 November, you are late. Here is a week-by-week plan, working back from the first muhurat, for businesses in Rudrapur, Haldwani and the rest of Kumaon.

01When are the wedding dates in November and December 2026?

Weddings resume after Dev Uthani Ekadashi, which Drik Panchang lists on 20 and 21 November 2026. SmartPuja's muhurat list for the season gives these dates:

  • November: Saturday 21, Tuesday 24, Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26.
  • December: Wednesday 2, Thursday 3, Friday 4, Saturday 5, Sunday 6, Friday 11 and Saturday 12.

Muhurat lists differ a little between panchangs, and many families fix a date with their own pandit. Treat these as the busy days, not the only ones. Not every family follows this calendar either. Punjabi, Sikh and Muslim weddings in the area can fall on other dates, so ask customers their date rather than assuming.

Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November, just before the season opens. For jewellers especially, Dhanteras and wedding buying run together.

02Who should plan for the wedding season?

Almost any business that a wedding family spends money with. The earlier they book, the earlier you must be seen.

BusinessWhen families decideWhat to show
Banquet halls, hotels, lawnsMonths ahead, but open dates still sell lateThe hall dressed for a function, food, parking, which dates are free
JewellersAround Dhanteras and DiwaliPieces on a person, bridal sets, the making process, exchange policy
Sarees, lehengas, menswear, tailorsOctober and early NovemberBride and guest looks, fitting and alteration time
Salons and makeup artistsWeeks ahead, after a trialReal bridal looks, the trial process, package inclusions
Caterers, sweet shops, bakeriesTwo to four weeks aheadTasting sessions, counters at a real event, sweet boxes
Furniture and appliance showroomsBefore the wedding, for the new homeRoom setups, delivery and installation timelines

We have worked with jewellers, saree shops, furniture showrooms and hotels, including Kapoor Jewelers, Bhabhiji Sarees, Ambition Furniture and Radisson Blu. The pattern is the same in each: the content that sells in the season is shot before it.

03What should I do in the first half of October?

Plan and shoot. This is the only calm window before Diwali takes over your shop, your staff and your social media.

  • Decide what you are selling this season: bridal packages, trial slots, hall dates, catering menus, gift boxes.
  • Write down prices or price ranges you are willing to share. 'Rate DM karo' loses customers who will not ask.
  • Book a shoot day before 20 October. Shoot in daylight; by late October the light goes early.
  • Get written consent from any real bride, family or guest whose photos you plan to use from past weddings.
  • Set up your WhatsApp Business catalogue and quick replies for the questions you will get fifty times.

One well-planned shoot day can give you content for the whole season. Plan the shot list first so nothing is missed. For how we shoot and edit this kind of content, see Videographer in Rudrapur for Brands & Events.

04What should I shoot for wedding season content?

Shoot things a family cannot see from a price list. Keep it vertical for Reels, and take a few versions of each shot so it lasts through December.

  • Jewellers: a bridal set being worn, under shop light and daylight. The hands of your karigar. A mother and daughter choosing.
  • Boutiques: the same lehenga from three angles, with the price. A fitting and alteration in progress.
  • Salons: a trial from start to finish, sped up. A before-and-after, only with consent.
  • Banquet halls: the hall empty, then dressed. The stage, the kitchen, the parking and the washrooms. Families ask about all of them.
  • Caterers: a live counter, the tasting table, staff in uniform serving.
  • Everyone: a short clip of the owner saying who you are and how to book, in Hindi.

Film on a phone if that is what you have, but clean the lens and use a tripod. Many of your viewers are on mid-range phones with patchy data, so short, clear clips beat long ones.

05What should I post around Diwali?

From about 20 October to 8 November, Diwali is the main message. Do not fight it. Weave the wedding in where it fits.

Jewellers can link Dhanteras buying to the wedding: 'shaadi ki shopping Dhanteras se shuru'. Boutiques can post guest looks that work for both Diwali parties and weddings. Banquet halls should post which season dates are still free, once a week.

Salons and makeup artists should be posting bridal work steadily through this period, because brides book trials weeks ahead. If you do not have bridal posts on your grid by early November, many brides will not find you in time.

Keep one person on the DMs and WhatsApp through the festival. A wedding enquiry that waits a day during Diwali week often books someone else.

06What should I do from 9 November to 12 December?

The day after Diwali, switch the whole feed to weddings. This is the plan, week by week.

7 to 12 DecemberThank-you posts and the season in one reelSave every good clip for the next season

For the ad side, see Facebook Ads Agency in Rudrapur | Meta Ads. The reel you shot in October is usually the ad.

07What happens after 12 December?

The winter window closes, but the work is not wasted. Collect reviews while families are still happy. Ask for a line or two on WhatsApp you can quote, with permission. Sort your best clips by type: bridal, guest, venue, food.

The next wedding window comes early in the new year. Our festival calendar at Festival marketing calendar for shops and restaurants in Uttarakhand covers how that window fits the rest of the year. Brides for those dates start looking in December, so your season recap is also your first post for the next one.

08Questions people ask

Is it too late to start if I have not shot anything yet?

No, but do not wait for Diwali to pass. Book one shoot day in the next two weeks and plan the shot list carefully. Even a small set of good reels, used well, is enough for a short season. The businesses that struggle are the ones that start posting on the first muhurat.

Can I post photos from a customer's wedding?

Only with their permission, ideally in writing on WhatsApp. Ask before the wedding, not after. Some families are private, and some do not want the bride's photos online at all. Never post children without a parent's consent. If anyone asks you to remove a post, do it the same day.

Should a banquet hall show prices online?

Show a starting price or a per-plate range if you can. Families compare halls on their phones before visiting, and a hall with no price often gets skipped. You can keep final packages for the visit. At the least, post which dates are still open, because that is the first question.

Do I need a website for wedding season?

Not for this season. Instagram, WhatsApp and a verified Google Business Profile carry most wedding enquiries for local businesses. A website helps banquet halls and jewellers most, because families search for them by name and area. If you plan one, start after the season rush.
