Guide
How do I get more customers for my travel agency in Haldwani?
Show that you are a real office with real trips. Post your own trip footage, your vehicles and drivers, and day-by-day itineraries with a starting price. Run ads only for a dated package, such as New Year or a honeymoon trip. Reply on WhatsApp the same day, because travellers ask three agents at once.
A travel agent in Haldwani sells to two very different people. One is the tourist getting off the train at Kathgodam, who needs a taxi to Nainital or a three-day hills package. The other is the family in Haldwani or the hill towns planning a trip out, to a pilgrimage, to Goa or abroad.
Both decide on a phone, and both worry about being cheated. The agent who wins is usually not the cheapest. It is the one who looks most real and answers fastest. Here is how to be that agent.
01Who is your customer: the tourist arriving or the family leaving?
Decide this first, because the content, the ads and even the language change. Many Haldwani agencies do both, but each side needs its own plan.
| Point | Tourists coming to Kumaon | Local families travelling out |
|---|---|---|
| Where they are | Delhi, the plains and other states | Haldwani, Kathgodam, Lalkuan and the hills |
| How they find you | Google search, Instagram, travel groups | Word of mouth, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp |
| What they need to see | Vehicles, drivers, hotels, the route | Your office, past group trips, visa help |
| Language | Hindi and English | Hindi first |
| Their big worry | Being stranded or overcharged | Losing the advance |
If you serve both, keep one Instagram account but plan the month in two halves. Mixing them randomly confuses both audiences.
02What should a travel agency post on Instagram?
Post proof, not postcards. Every agency can download a photo of Naini Lake. Only you can show your own group at the lake last Sunday. The formats that work best for travel businesses, in our experience:
- Trip footage from your own groups, shot on your driver's or guide's phone, with the guests' consent.
- A driver and vehicle introduction: name, years on hill roads, the car.
- A day-by-day itinerary reel for one package, ending with the starting price.
- Pick-up at Kathgodam station, so a first-time visitor knows what to expect.
- Honest road and weather updates in winter, when fog and snow change plans.
- The owner on camera, answering the questions people ask most.
Keep prices visible. "DM for price" loses the customer who is comparing three agents. A "starting from" price, with what it includes, earns the message.
03How do you make people trust a travel agent online?
Travel is paid in advance, and everyone has heard a story about a fake agent. Your content has to remove that fear before the first call.
- Show your office, the board outside and the people inside. A real address beats any slogan.
- Put the same name, number and address on Instagram, Google and your website.
- Explain your booking and cancellation terms in plain Hindi, in a pinned post.
- Share reviews from real guests, with their permission, and reply to every review.
- Send a written itinerary and a receipt for every payment, on WhatsApp.
None of this is expensive. It is what separates the agent people book from the one they only ask.
04Should a travel agency in Haldwani run ads?
Yes, but for a package with a date, not for the agency in general. "New Year in Mukteshwar, three nights" gives people a reason to act now. "Best travel agency" does not.
How we would set it up for a winter package:
- Shoot one reel of the actual route and stay, and use it as the ad.
- For inbound packages, aim the ads at the cities your guests actually come from.
- For outbound trips, aim at Haldwani and nearby towns, and include parents and older couples.
- Use a WhatsApp chat ad so people can ask about dates and prices at once.
- Add Google search ads for direct searches, such as a taxi from Kathgodam to Nainital.
Start at least three to four weeks before the travel dates, since families plan holidays early. Our Facebook Ads Agency in Rudrapur | Meta Ads page shows how we run reels as ads. For which platform suits which job, see Google Ads or Facebook ads: which is better for a local business?.
05Does a travel agency need a website?
If you want tourists from outside Uttarakhand, yes. Someone in Delhi who has never met you will look for a website before sending an advance. It is also where Google sends people searching for a package or a taxi route.
A useful travel website needs very little:
- One page per package, with the itinerary, inclusions, exclusions and starting price.
- Your vehicles, with photos and seating.
- Booking, payment and cancellation terms.
- Your office address, a map and a WhatsApp button on every page.
It must load quickly on a phone with weak signal, because many guests check it on the road. Business websites from AMS start at ₹50,000 plus GST. See Website Design Cost in Rudrapur: From ₹50,000 for what that covers.
06What mistakes do travel agents make online?
We see the same handful again and again:
- Stock photos of places you do not cover, or of Switzerland captioned as Auli.
- Copying another agency's itinerary graphic, logo still visible.
- Hiding prices behind "DM for details".
- Replying the next day, when the customer asked three agents the same evening.
- Posting only in Facebook groups, with nothing on your own page.
- Busy posters with ten destinations and tiny text no one can read on a phone.
Each one costs trust. Fixing them costs very little.
07How does AMS work with travel businesses?
Advance Media Solution has worked with travel brands including Trip Tribe, Starlight Travels and Dhawan Travel Services. For an agency, we usually start with one shoot day: the office, the team, the fleet and a short route. Then we plan the month around the packages you actually want to sell.
Our studio is in Rudrapur, and Haldwani is a regular shoot location for us. If you run a travel agency and want content and ads that look like your real business, call +91 91059 43909. Even if you do it yourself, start with prices in the open and same-day replies.
08Questions people ask
Which is better for a travel agency, Instagram or Facebook?
Both, for different people. Younger couples and groups plan on Instagram, so reels of real trips work well there. Older travellers and family groups in Kumaon still use Facebook and WhatsApp heavily. One reel can go to both. Facebook groups help too, but they should point back to your own page, not replace it.
Should I post the names of hotels in my packages?
Yes, if the booking is confirmed or the hotel is one you use regularly. Naming the hotel helps people trust the package, and many will check its photos themselves. If the hotel might change, say "or similar" clearly. Changing the hotel without telling the guest is the fastest way to a bad review.
How early should a Haldwani travel agency promote New Year packages?
Start sharing the package by late November or early December. Families plan winter holidays and leave from work early. Put the itinerary and starting price out first, then run ads in the three to four weeks before travel. Keep a few posts ready for late bookings, since some decide only after Christmas.
Is it safe to show my drivers and vehicles online?
Yes, and it builds trust. Ask each driver's permission first, and do not show vehicle numbers or personal phone numbers if they are uncomfortable. A short introduction with the driver's name and experience on hill roads reassures tourists who are nervous about the mountains.
