How does a caterer in Kashipur get more wedding bookings?

Families book a caterer they have tasted, seen in action, or heard about from someone they trust. So shoot your counters, kitchen and staff at real functions, with permission, and post them through the season. Build ties with banquet halls and tent houses, collect reviews after every event, and answer WhatsApp enquiries with a clear menu the same day.

In Kashipur, most wedding catering is still booked the old way. A relative recommends you, the banquet hall suggests you, or the family ate at a function you served and liked the dal makhani. That word of mouth is your real asset.

But the family now checks you on their phone before they call. They look for photos of your counters, a video of the live tandoor, and what other families said. If they find nothing, or find blurry photos from five years ago, they move on to the next name.

01What do families check before booking a caterer?

The questions are practical, and they are usually asked by three people at once: the parents, an uncle and the one who handles the budget.

  • Taste: can we do a tasting, and who else have you served?
  • Scale: can you handle a big baraat and a small mehendi in the same week?
  • Hygiene: what does your kitchen look like, and are the staff in uniform?
  • Menu range: Punjabi, pahadi, South Indian, Chinese, Jain, and a separate sweet counter?
  • Service: enough staff at the counters, plates cleared, food hot till the end.
  • Price: a clear per-plate idea, and what is included.

Your content should answer each of these. A plate of paneer on a white background answers none of them. A slow video of a busy counter, staff in clean uniforms and food going out hot answers most of them at once.

02What should a caterer shoot at a wedding?

Every function you serve this season is a shoot day you are already paid for. Ask the family's permission first, keep the guests mostly out of frame, and plan the shots before the guests arrive:

Counters set and lit, before guests comeAn hour before the functionYour setup and scale

Our crew has shot weddings in a banquet hall live, and kitchen close-ups for a menu, for Kartar's Haveli. The case study at the Kartar's Haveli case study shows how that food and wedding content built a following from zero.

03Where do caterers in Kashipur get their bookings from?

Mostly from people who see your work in someone else's event. That makes partners as important as Instagram:

  • Banquet halls and resorts that do not run their own kitchen.
  • Tent houses and decorators, who meet the family first.
  • Wedding planners and event managers.
  • Pandits, photographers and DJs, who know every booking in town.

Tag the hall, the decorator and the photographer in every post from a function, and ask them to share it. A decorator's followers are exactly the families planning a wedding. Send each partner the best photos after the event, free. It is the cheapest marketing a caterer can do.

Corporate orders matter too. Offices and factories around Kashipur and the SIDCUL belt order for year-end functions, and they keep you busy in the months without weddings.

04How should I handle WhatsApp enquiries?

Most enquiries now come as a WhatsApp message, often late at night after the family has talked it over at dinner. How you reply decides the booking more than your ad does.

  • Reply the same day, even if it is a short note saying you will call tomorrow.
  • Keep a menu card ready as an image or PDF: veg, non-veg, Jain, sweets, live counters.
  • Give a starting per-plate range and explain what changes it.
  • Ask the date, the venue and the guest count in the first reply.
  • Offer a tasting for serious bookings, and follow up after it.

Use the WhatsApp Business app, not a personal number, so you can add a catalogue of menus and save quick replies. A clean, well-designed menu card also does well on Instagram and at the banquet hall's front desk.

05Do Facebook and Instagram ads work for wedding catering?

They can, if the timing is right. Families book caterers weeks or months before the muhurat, so ads in the middle of the season reach people who have already booked. The useful windows are before each wedding season starts and in the quiet weeks around Kharmas, when families plan the January and February weddings.

Keep the ads local: Kashipur, Jaspur, Bazpur and the villages around. Use your best counter or live-cooking reel as the ad, not a poster. Point the ad to WhatsApp, so the family can ask about a date straight away.

Do not expect an ad to close a wedding on its own. It gets your name into the conversation. The tasting, the menu and your references close it. Our page at Restaurant Marketing Agency in Rudrapur & Kumaon covers how we run food content and ads for restaurants and caterers.

06What mistakes stop caterers getting more weddings?

  • Using stock photos or images from other caterers. Families recognise them, and it kills trust.
  • Posting only food plates, never the counters, staff or kitchen.
  • Going silent after the season. Out of sight in Kharmas means out of mind in January.
  • Not asking for reviews. The family is happiest the morning after the function.
  • No menu card to send. A long voice note is not a menu.
  • Letting the family's video be the only record of your best work.

None of this needs a big budget. It needs someone to shoot at each function and someone to post it.

07What should I do this wedding season?

Weddings usually restart around Dev Uthani Ekadashi in late November and run to mid-December. Pick three functions you are serving in that stretch and plan a proper shoot at each. By Kharmas, you will have enough content to post through the pause and sell the January and February dates.

08Questions people ask

Can I post photos from a family's wedding?

Only with their permission. Ask before the function, and agree what you will show. Most families are fine with counters, food and staff. Keep guests' faces, especially women and children, out of frame unless the family clearly agrees. Never post the bride and groom without asking.

Should I post my per-plate price on Instagram?

A starting range helps, because it filters out people who were never going to book. But per-plate prices change with the menu, the guest count and the venue. Post a starting point and the main options, and give the exact quote on WhatsApp after you know the details.

Is Google important for a caterer?

Yes. Many families search caterers in Kashipur and look at the photos and reviews on Google before they call. Keep your Business Profile up to date with real event photos, and ask every satisfied family for a review the day after the function.

What should I post during Kharmas when there are no weddings?

Post the best of the season you just finished: counters, live cooking, kitchen and reviews. Add corporate and birthday orders, and new menu items. Families plan January and February weddings in this pause, so it is when your posts are most likely to be seen by people deciding.
