Guide
Can I use AI-generated photos for my business instead of a real photoshoot?
Use AI for backgrounds, ideas, festival graphics and clean-up edits. Do not use it to show your product, food, rooms, results or customers as real when they are not. ASCI's new guidelines, released on 29 September 2026, ask advertisers to label synthetic content that could mislead, and ban fake endorsements. For anything a customer buys, shoot the real thing.
Every owner has seen them by now. A thali that looks too perfect, a showroom with no dust, a smiling family that never visited. AI tools can make an image like that in a minute, for almost nothing. So the question we hear on first calls in Rudrapur is fair: why pay for a shoot at all?
The honest answer is that AI is useful for some jobs and harmful for others. The line is simple. If the picture shows something the customer will buy, see or trust, it must be real.
01Where are AI images fine for a local business?
AI is a good tool when nobody is being asked to believe the picture is real. We use it, and so can you, for:
- Festival greeting backgrounds: diyas, rangoli, snow on a Christmas card.
- Mood boards before a shoot, to agree on a look with the owner.
- Removing a wire, a dustbin or a stray bottle from a real photo.
- Colour correction, lighting fixes and noise reduction on a real photo.
- Extending a background so a real photo fits a banner or a story.
- Drafting captions and ad text, which a person then checks.
ASCI's new guidelines, as summarised by the law firm Fox Mandal, put most of these in the group that needs no label. That group includes colour correction, lighting adjustments, noise reduction, minor blemish removal, decorative elements and ad copy generation.
02When does an AI image become misleading?
When it shows something a customer will act on. A biryani that does not look like your biryani. A hotel room with a view your window does not have. A flat with finishes the builder will not install. A before-and-after that never happened.
In Kumaon, most sales still end with a walk-in or a WhatsApp chat. The customer arrives, compares the plate or the room with your post, and decides whether you are honest. A fake picture wins the click and loses the customer. It also brings the one-star review that every later buyer reads.
Real people are a harder line still. An AI 'happy customer' or an AI doctor explaining a treatment is a testimonial that never happened. On Content Creation Agency in Rudrapur | Monthly Reels we say plainly that we do not use AI-generated people pretending to have bought from you.
03What do ASCI's new AI labelling guidelines say?
The Advertising Standards Council of India released its guidelines on labelling synthetically generated content in advertising on 29 September 2026. They take effect three months after publication, so around the end of December. In AMS's view, for a local business that means your paid reels, boosted posts and banner ads.
According to Fox Mandal's summary, ads fall into three groups:
| Group | Examples given | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Prohibited, even with a label | Fake endorsements, misleading product results, places that do not exist shown as real, deepfakes without consent | Never do this |
| Label needed | Synthetic influencers, fabricated events or settings, products that do not exist yet | Say clearly that AI was used |
| No label needed | Colour correction, lighting, minor clean-up, decorative elements, ad copy | Carry on, and keep it honest |
Suggested label wording includes 'Audio/Video created using AI' and 'Audio/Video enhanced using AI'. Labels provided by the platform are also accepted. This is a plain summary, not legal advice. If you advertise a lot, read the full guidelines or ask your adviser.
04Will Instagram and Facebook label my AI images?
They can. Meta's tag is called 'AI info', and it replaced the older 'Made with AI' wording on Facebook and Instagram. As Social Media Today reported, the tag appears when Meta's system detects that AI tools were used to make an image, or when the person posting says they used AI. Tapping it gives a short note on how AI may have been used.
So an AI image can be tagged even if you say nothing. Some AI tools mark the files they create, and you may not know which ones do. If you used AI to make the picture, it is simpler to say so yourself.
In our view, a small label is not the real risk. The real risk is a customer in Haldwani noticing that the plate looks nothing like the post. A label tells people what you used. A real photo tells them what they will get.
05Is a real photoshoot worth it for a small shop or restaurant?
It depends on what you sell. This is how we usually advise owners:
- Restaurants and bakeries: shoot real. Food is bought on looks, and the customer will compare.
- Hotels and homestays: shoot real. Guests check the view, the room and the bathroom.
- Clinics and schools: shoot real people, with consent. Trust is the product.
- Builders: real site photos and progress videos. Renders are fine if clearly called renders.
- Clothing and jewellery: real, in true colour. Colour is the first complaint.
- Festival greetings and offers: an AI background is fine, with your real product in front.
One well-planned shoot can give a month of posts, reels and ads, so the cost is spread out. It also gives you photos you own, which no tool can take away. How we light products, food and showrooms so the colour stays true is on Photographer in Rudrapur for Products, Food & Shops.
06What mistakes do owners make with AI images?
- An AI image of a dish you do not make, or plating you never serve.
- AI 'customer' photos or reviews. That is a fake endorsement.
- An AI face of a doctor, teacher or owner explaining a service.
- An AI view from a hotel window that does not have it.
- Copying another brand's look so closely that it looks like their work.
- Mixing AI and real photos with no difference, so nobody trusts any of them.
Most of these are not done out of bad intent. The owner was short of time and had no photos that week. The fix is to keep a stock of real photos, so you never need the fake one.
07How does AMS use AI in its work?
Advance Media Solution is a seven-person studio in Metropolis City, and we shoot for 75+ brands across Udham Singh Nagar and Kumaon. We use AI tools where they save time and do not mislead: cleaning up a frame, extending a background, drafting a caption for a person to edit.
Your product, your food, your rooms, your team and your customers are shot for real. That is the part customers check when they walk in.

08Questions people ask
Can I use AI to make my festival posts?
Yes, for the background and the decoration. Keep your real product, shop or team in the picture, so the post still shows your business. Check that any offer in the post is real and the price is right. A festival greeting is not a claim about your product, so it is the safest place to use AI.
Do I have to write 'made with AI' on every post?
No. ASCI's guidelines are about advertising, and routine edits such as colour correction need no label. A label is needed when synthetic content could change a buyer's decision and mislead them without one. If you advertise often, read the full guidelines. When in doubt, label it.
Can I use AI to improve my real photos?
Yes. Brightening, straightening, removing a stray object and fixing the colour are normal edits that photographers have always made. The line is changing what the product itself looks like: a bigger portion, a cleaner finish, a better view. If the customer would feel cheated on seeing the real thing, do not make the edit.
Is it cheaper to use AI than to hire a photographer?
For a greeting card, yes. For your menu, rooms or products, a cheap image can cost more in returns, complaints and lost trust. Many businesses plan shoots as part of a monthly retainer. Ours start from ₹35,000 a month plus GST, explained at Digital Marketing Packages in Rudrapur from ₹35,000.
