How do I promote my new shop opening in Kichha so people actually turn up?

Start three weeks before. Put up the board and a dated banner early, set up Instagram, WhatsApp Business and a Google Business Profile in the shop's name, and film the shop being set up. Invite people personally on WhatsApp, give one clear reason to visit on opening day, and keep posting after it.

The muhurat is fixed, the pandit is booked and the sweets are ordered. The shutter goes up, relatives come, the pooja photos go on the family group. Then the next morning the shop is quiet, because most of Kichha did not know it opened.

An opening is the one day people are curious about you for free. Here is how to use the three weeks before it, the day itself and the week after, without a big budget.

01When should I start promoting a shop opening?

About three weeks before is right for most shops. Earlier and people forget. Later and there is no time to build any curiosity.

WhenWhat to do
Three weeks beforeBoard up with "Opening soon" and the date. Set up Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp Business and the Google profile.
Two weeks beforeFilm the setup: shelves going in, stock arriving, the owner explaining what is coming.
One week beforePost the opening reel. Start a small local ad. Send personal WhatsApp invitations.
Day beforeA short reminder on WhatsApp and Instagram stories, with the time and a map pin.
Opening daySomeone filming all day. Post stories through the day, not just the pooja.
The week afterThank-you post, first customers' words, and the regular weekly posts begin.

02What should I set up before the shutter goes up?

Do the dull work early, because some of it takes days to come through.

  • A board people can read from a moving bike, in Hindi and English if your customers read both.
  • An Instagram and a Facebook page in the shop's name, with the same logo and a clear bio: what you sell, where, timings.
  • The free WhatsApp Business app on a number that will stay with the shop, with your catalogue, address and hours filled in.
  • A Google Business Profile with the right pin and category. Verification can take time, so start early.
  • A simple way to pay that is shown on the counter, so nobody hesitates at the billing desk.

Use the shop's own number everywhere. A personal number that changes next year breaks every link, review and saved contact you build now.

03What should the opening reel show?

Not a flyer with stars and the word "Grand". People in Kichha have seen a hundred of those. Show the real shop and the real people.

  • The owner on camera, saying in plain Hindi what the shop is and why they opened it.
  • The products up close, with price ranges if you can share them.
  • How to find you, with a landmark people know: which road, near which chowk or bank.
  • The opening date and time, and what is special about that day.
  • A last line telling people to message on WhatsApp or come in.

Keep it under a minute and shoot it vertical. For Refresh Mattress, the showroom launch reel put the owner on camera. That one choice tells a customer there is a real person behind the counter they can talk to.

04How do I invite people on WhatsApp without spamming them?

Invite people who know you: relatives, old customers from a previous business, neighbours, school and college groups, other shopkeepers on the market road. Send it personally, not as a forward with fifty names visible.

Three messages are enough. An invitation a few days before, with the date, time and address. A short message on the morning of the opening. Then a "now open" note with the map pin for those who could not come.

Do not buy number lists or send blasts to strangers. It annoys people, and the rules on spam calls and messages have tightened. We explain them at TRAI's new spam rules: what changes for businesses that call and SMS customers. Build your own list from day one instead. Ask every customer if they want offers on WhatsApp, and save their number with their consent.

05Is a small Instagram or Facebook ad worth it for an opening?

Usually yes, if it is small, local and short. Run your opening reel as an ad for the week before opening and the opening weekend. Draw the area around Kichha and the villages and colonies your customers come from, not the whole district.

Choose messages or calls as the goal, so people can ask a question in one tap. Write the text in Hindi if that is how your customers talk. Answer every message the same day, because an opening enquiry goes cold by the next evening.

A boost from the post itself is enough for most openings. If you would rather not set it up yourself, we run opening ads for clients through Facebook Ads Agency in Rudrapur | Meta Ads.

06What do owners get wrong on opening day?

  • No one is filming, so the busiest day leaves no content behind.
  • Only the pooja and ribbon-cutting get posted, not the products or the crowd.
  • The opening offer is too complicated to explain at the counter.
  • Staff do not know who is answering Instagram and WhatsApp messages.
  • The shop goes silent online from day two.

Give one family member or staff member a single job for the day: film short clips of customers, the stock and the owner greeting people. Ask permission before filming anyone's face. That footage feeds your posts for weeks.

07What should I do in the week after opening?

Post a thank-you with real photos from the day. Ask a few happy customers if you can share what they said, in their words. Ask them to leave a Google review if they are comfortable. Then start a simple weekly rhythm: new stock, a product in use, the owner answering a common question.

A launch is a start, not a finish. When we ran a launch campaign for The Royal Art, with pieces shot in situ and a news-style cut to open with, it brought ₹70k+ in sales within the first twenty days. The full story is at The Royal Art case study.

Advance Media Solution is in Metropolis City, a short drive from Kichha, and our crew shoots there often. If you want help with the reel, the pages or the ad, call +91 91059 43909. If you want to do it yourself, this plan is a good start.

08Questions people ask

Should I hire an influencer for my shop opening in Kichha?

Only if their followers actually live near you. A creator from Kichha or Rudrapur with a local audience can help. A big creator from Delhi will bring views, not walk-ins. Ask to see where their audience is based, and make sure any paid post is clearly marked as a paid partnership.

What opening offer works best for a new shop?

One that is easy to say in a sentence at the counter, such as a free gift with the first purchase or a small discount for the first few days. Avoid layered conditions. The point of the offer is to give people a reason to come in now, not to clear stock.

Do I need a website before opening a shop?

Not for opening day. Instagram, WhatsApp Business and a Google profile are enough to start. A website becomes useful when you want to show a full catalogue, take bookings, or run ads that need a proper page. You can add it once the shop has settled.

Is it worth printing pamphlets as well?

In Kichha, often yes. Pamphlets in the newspaper or handed out at the market still reach people who are not on Instagram. Print the same design, date and landmark as your reel, and add a WhatsApp number so people can ask questions before they come.
