New Year 2027 calendars, diaries and greetings: when should a business start?

Start the week after Diwali. Decide who gets a calendar or diary by mid-November, finish design and proofs by the end of November, send the files to your printer in the first week of December, and hand them out from about 20 December. Plan the digital New Year greeting alongside, so both carry the same photos.

Walk into almost any kirana, pharmacy, hardware shop or factory office in Udham Singh Nagar and you will see it. A wall calendar from a supplier, a jeweller or a builder, hanging next to the counter all year. Every time someone checks a date, they see that business's name.

That is why calendars and diaries survive in a world of reels. But they only work if they arrive before the new year, look like something worth hanging, and are not one more generic photo of a waterfall. Here is the plan, worked back from the day they need to be in hand.

01Who should still give calendars or diaries in 2027?

A printed calendar is worth it when the same customers come back again and again, or when a few buyers matter a lot. It suits:

  • Shops with regular customers: kirana, pharmacies, sweet shops, hardware and electrical stores.
  • Jewellers and showrooms that want to stay in the family's mind until the next wedding or festival.
  • Clinics, labs and schools, for patients and parents.
  • Builders and brokers, for site buyers and channel partners.
  • SIDCUL suppliers and manufacturers, for purchase managers, plant heads and dealers.

It suits walk-in businesses less if most customers are one-time visitors, such as tourists. For them, the money is usually better spent on a New Year reel and a WhatsApp greeting. Be honest about which you are before you order anything.

02What is the plan, week by week?

In our experience, printers get busy in December with calendars, diaries and wedding cards. Work back from about 20 December, when you want stock in hand:

WhenWhat to do
Now, before DiwaliTen minutes: decide calendar, diary or both, and roughly who gets one
9 to 15 NovemberMake the list. Brief the designer. Collect or plan the photos
16 to 29 NovemberShoot if needed. Design, two rounds of changes, check every date and holiday
30 November to 6 DecemberFinal proof signed by the owner. Print-ready files to the printer
7 to 19 DecemberPrinting, a check of the first copies, packing and delivery lists
From about 20 DecemberHand out and deliver. Post the digital version
31 December and 1 JanuaryThe New Year greeting goes out on Instagram and WhatsApp

The weeks after Diwali are the real deadline. If the design is not settled by the end of November, the calendar arrives in January, when the customer has already hung someone else's.

03What should go on a business calendar?

The calendar is a gift first and an advert second. If it is only an advert, it goes in the drawer. Things that make people hang it:

  • One real photo per month: your products, your team, your site or your shop, shot properly.
  • Holidays and festival dates checked against an official list, in Hindi and English.
  • Big, readable dates, with space to write on.
  • Your phone, WhatsApp, address and a QR code to your website or Instagram, on every page or at the foot.
  • For factories and builders, a clean look that sits well in an office.

Do not use free stock photos of mountains and flowers. Your customers have seen them on ten other calendars. A photo of your own counter, kitchen, machine floor or finished project is what makes yours different.

04Wall calendar, desk calendar or diary: which one?

Each one lives in a different place, so pick by who receives it:

ItemWhere it livesBest for
Wall calendarShop counters, kitchens, factory officesShops, jewellers, pharmacies, builders
Desk calendarOffice desks and reception countersSIDCUL suppliers, clinics, schools
DiaryIn the hand of a manager or ownerA short list of important buyers and dealers
Digital calendar or greetingPhones, WhatsApp, InstagramEveryone, alongside print

Diaries cost more per piece, so keep them for the people who actually place orders. Wall calendars suit wider handouts across the counter.

05What about the New Year greeting on social media?

Every business posts "Happy New Year" on 1 January. Most of those posts look the same and disappear by lunch. Make yours from your real year instead.

  • A short reel of the year: the shop on Diwali, the team, the best moments, in under a minute.
  • The owner or the team saying thank you on camera, in Hindi or Hinglish.
  • For factories, a LinkedIn post with the team photo and the year's milestones that you can share publicly.
  • A WhatsApp greeting image built from the calendar's cover, so print and digital match.

Plan this with the calendar, not after it. Use the same shoot and the same photos. That saves a day of work and makes the brand look consistent from the counter to the phone.

06What mistakes send a calendar straight to the bin?

We see the same problems every December:

  • A wrong festival date or a missing holiday, which people notice immediately.
  • Tiny dates and a huge logo, so it is no use as a calendar.
  • Hindi text that breaks when the printer opens the file.
  • Last year's phone number or address, because nobody checked the proof.
  • Arriving in the second week of January.
  • Too many printed for people who will never use them.

The Hindi problem is common and easy to avoid. The designer should convert Hindi text to outlines in the final print file, so the matras stay in place on the printer's computer.

07How does AMS handle calendar and diary jobs?

Advance Media Solution designs the calendar, diary cover and New Year greeting, and hands over print-ready files. We do not print. The files go to the press you use, and we can speak to your printer about size and finish.

Where the photos are missing, we shoot them: products, team, the shop or the factory floor. Our approach to design and print files is on Graphic Designer in Rudrapur for Logos, Menus & Ads. For the factory side, see Industrial & B2B Marketing Agency in SIDCUL Rudrapur.

If you want your 2027 calendar ready before Christmas, call +91 91059 43909 in the week after Diwali. Even if you use your usual printer's designer, start the list now.

08Questions people ask

Is a printed calendar still worth it when everyone uses phones?

For businesses with regular customers, often yes. A wall calendar sits in a shop, kitchen or office all year, and people check dates on it daily. It is one of the few printed items that stays in view. It is less useful for businesses whose customers visit once, such as tourists. For them, a digital greeting is enough.

How many calendars should we print?

Make the list first, then add a small margin for walk-in customers and new contacts. Most businesses overprint because they guess. Count your regular customers, key buyers, dealers and staff, decide who gets a diary and who gets a calendar, and print to that list. Leftover calendars in February are wasted money.

Can we use the calendar design for social media too?

Yes, and you should. The cover can become your New Year greeting on Instagram and WhatsApp, and each month's photo can become a post at the start of that month. Ask your designer for phone-sized versions with the print files, so the calendar works on screens as well as walls.

Should the calendar mention our offers or prices?

Usually not. An offer expires within weeks, but the calendar hangs for a year. Keep it to your name, what you do, your contact details and good photos. If you want to push an offer, put a QR code on the calendar that leads to your website or WhatsApp, where you can change the offer any time.
